- 어머니의 닭볶음탕 -
오늘 친구와 전화통화를 하다가
어머니가 닭볶음탕을 끓여주셨다며
자기는 안먹는다고 질색하더군요.
전화를 끊고 나서
영문 모를 눈물이 쏟아졌습니다.
저는 어머니가 안 계십니다.
병환으로 저와 누나를 남겨두고
5년 전 세상을 떠났습니다.
어머니의 빈자리를
실감하지 않으려고 노력했습니다.
학교와 직장으로 따로 집을 얻어 살았고
바쁜 생활 때문에 잊고 살았습니다.
하지만 오늘은 돌아가신 어머니가
자꾸만 떠오르네요.
부엌 한쪽에서 압력밥솥이
칙칙 달아오르는 소리를 내면
어머니께서 도마 가득 음식재료를 놓고
써는 소리가 들렸어요.
제 방에서 그 소리를 들으면,
어딘가 포근하고 즐거워졌습니다.
어머니께서 항상 저를
사랑하고 있다는 걸 알 수 있었고,
우리 가족은 화목하다는 걸
새삼 느낄 수 있었습니다.
어머니가 가장 잘 하시는 요리는
닭볶음탕이었습니다.
이제는 이 세상 어디에서도
그 맛을 다시 맛볼 수는 없겠지요.
