조동사 뒤에는 동사원형
조동사는 동사를 도와주는 것으로 항상 동사 앞에 나오는 품사이다.
조동사 뒤에는 동사원형이 온다는 것은 기본적인 문법이지만
토익에서 자주 출제되므로 꼭 기억하자.
Tips : 동사의 기본법칙 3가지는 ⇒ 1. 조동사+ V원형
2. be + V-ing(진행형/ 능동)
+ p.p(수동태)
3. have/had + p.p(완료형 능동)
+ been V-ing(완료형 진행)
+ been p.p (완료형 수동태)
위 3가지 기본 동사 규칙은 반드시 암기하자! -

2. 현재분사와 과거분사의 차이
{Raoul's Point}
동사는,
그 자체에 무엇이 붙느냐에 따라, 여러 가지 기능을 할 수 있는데,
그 중 동사에 ～ing를 붙이면,
명사나 형용사의 기능을 수행한다.
명사 자리에 있으면 동명사이고, 형용사 자리에 있으면 분사이다.
동사는,
자동사와 타동사로 나눌 수 있는데,
자동사란 목적어를 필요로 하지 않는 동사이고,
타동사란 그 동사 행위의 대상이 되는 목적어를 필요로 하는 동사를 말한다.
동사 앞에 오는 분사가,
어떤 형태로 오느냐 (-ing인가 -ed인가의 여부) 의 문제는,
명사와의 관계를 통해서 정해지는데,
요령은, 수식을 받는 명사는 주어, 수식하는 분사는 동사라고 생각하면 된다.
a sleeping baby(자는 중인 아이)는 baby가 sleeping하는 것이고,
a returned soldier(돌아온 군인)는 soldier가 returned한 것이 된다.
자동사일 때는,
보기의 예문처럼 완료를 사용하는 경우를 제외하고는
항상 능동형으로 사용해야 하며,
타동사일 때는,
an interesting game 처럼 행동의 주체가 되면, 능동으로
,..>>게임 자체가 재미있으므로 -ing (현재 분사)
interested people처럼 행동의 객체가 되면 수동이 된다
..>> 사람들이 재미있어졌으므로 -ed (과거 분사)
1. 자동사의 경우
- 자동사의 현재분사(-ing)는 [능동 / 진행]을 표시하고,
과거분사(-ed)는 [완료]를 표시한다.
1) 현재분사 -> 진행
예-1) A sleeping baby = A baby who is sleeping (자는 아기)
예-2) working laborers = laborers who are working. ( 일하고 있는 중인 노동자)
2) 과거분사 -> 완료
예-1) A returned soldier = A soldier who has returned. (돌아온 군인)
예-2) faded flowers = flowers that are faded. (시들은 꽃들)

공부할 시간이 엄따.
암튼 이제 우린 떳떳하다.. 빨리가서 부모님들에게
왜 공부를 못하는지 말해줘야겠다.. -

During the early years of the Cold War between the U.S. and the Soviet Union,
the Russians supported Communist government throughout Europe and Asia, while
the Americans tried to prevent the spread of Communism. As the conflict grew, the American people became more and more scared that Communists were trying to gain access to the U.S government in order to cause it to collapse. In the early 1950s, Senator Joseph McCarthy used this fear to gain popularity for himself and his policies. on February 9, 1950, McCarthy declared that over 200 employees of the American government were communists. Even though he never presented any evidence of this,
the public believed him because of their strong concerns about Communism. Over
the next few years, he led Congress in investigations of these and thousands of other people accused of being Communists or supporting Communist ideals. Many innocent victims were put in jail without fair trials, as lawyers, unwilling to defend suspected Communists, refused to help them. Even more lost their jobs and were unable to get new ones. Simply being questioned by Congress was enough to make them dangerous in the eyes of the public and ruin their careers and reputations. Then, in 1953, McCarthy claimed there were Communist soldiers in the U.S. army and accused President Eisenhower of protecting them. Both the Senate and
the general public felt McCarthy had gone too far. Support for his ideas faded, and
his policies were blocked by Congress. However, it took much longer for the fearful atmosphere of McCarthyism to disappear completely from the U.S., and it remains a shameful period in American history.
