3. 대부정사  (Pro-infinitive)

 

※ 대부정사란 ‘대신하는 부정사’라는 말인데, 동사가 반복될 때 동사를 빼고 to만으로 동사를 같이 포함하는 것을 말한다. (반복회피)

- You may go if you want to (go). (너는 가고 싶으면 가도 된다.)

- You need not to unless you want to. (너는 원하지 않으면 할 필요가 없다.)

- A: Did he come? (그가 왔니?)

  B: No, I asked him to. (아니, 나는 그에게 오라고 부탁했다.)

   / But he didn't want to. (그러나 그가 가고 싶지 않아해.)

 

4. 부정사의 부정

※ 부정사 앞에 not. never 첨가

- not to go /never to go
