한 병약한 소년이 있었다.
부모님이 돌아가신 뒤
슬픔에 젖어 하루하루를 보내고 있었다.
어느 날
소년의 꿈에 돌아가신 어머니가 나타났다.
"아들아, 집 앞의 바위를 매일 밀어라.
그러면 놀라운 일이 일어날 거다."
소년은 신기하게 여겼고,
그날부터 집 앞의 바위를 매일 같이 밀었다.
그렇게 8개월이 지났지만
바위는 조금씩 흔들릴 뿐 도통 움직이는 것 같지 않았다.
소년은 점점 자신이 하고 있는 일에 회의가 들었고,
어머니가 나타난 꿈에도 의심이 솟았다.
문득 바위의 위치를 재어 보니
불과 10cm도 옮겨지지 않은 것이 아닌가!
헛수고를 해 왔음을 깨달은 소년은
원통한 나머지 실컷 울다가 잠이 들었다.
꿈에서 다시 어머니가 나타나자,
아들은 물었다.
"왜 저보고 바위를 옮기라고 하신 겁니까?"
"왜 그렇게 슬퍼하느냐.
나는 너에게 바위를 옮기라고 하지 않았다.
밀라고 했지.
이제 거울 앞으로 가 보거라."
잠에서 깬 소년은 거울 앞으로 달려갔다
그 앞에는 체력이 약한 소년이 아니라
근육질의 남자가 서 있었다.

ㅐ - sounds like [ae] in Apple.
ㅒ - sounds like [ae] in Apple...ㅐ and ㅒ are similar.
ㅘ - sounds like [wa] in Wow
ㅖ - sounds like [ye] in Yes
ㅙ - sounds like [wae] in Wagon
ㅚ - sounds like [oe] in When
ㅝ - sounds like [weo] in War
ㅞ - sonnds like [we] in Way
ㅟ - sounds like [wi] in We
ㅢ - sounds like [eui] in E-ui-ssya
[=Way to go in Korea]
* The sound of each Korean consonant.
ㄱ-[gi-euk], ㄴ-[ni-eun], ㄷ-[di-geud]

* Combining Korean alphabets
Now you have to notice that the principle of combining Korean alphabets are different from other languages. Examples are below.
1. 나 sounds like [Na]
낙 sounds like [Nag]
난 sounds like [Nan]
날 sounds like [Nal]
남 sounds like [Nam]
납 sounds like [Nap]
낫 sounds like [Nat]
낭 sounds like [Nang]
From above, you can notice that the last sound of each Korean alphabet is located below the first two ones. This is one of the special features in Korean language. And remember that not all the consonants are used as the last one below. They are [ㄱ, ㄴ, ㄷ, ㄹ, ㅁ, ㅂ, ㅅ, O]. Other consonants are not used as the last Korean alphabet which is located below the other ones.
